I haven't posted one of these for four years, but I couldn't ignore this.. what else is there to say?

Things Men Do With Ladders no. 20
LETS DO THIS
Yes, that is what it says on the plastic bucket. 'Lets do this' is unsound advice, in my opinion. While the construction may appear well balanced, it's based on a building material not renowned for its strength under pressure. Collapse would seem to be a distinct possibility.

The Things Men Do with Ladders, number 19
Whoever first published this image was interested in whatever was happening at the top of these twin ladders - a platform rigged between the two. I'd be slightly more concerned at what was going on at the base. I could be wrong but they appear to be just propped up on a plank set between two trestles... jury rigged or just bodged? I couldn't possibly say..!

The Things Men Do With Ladders - 18
This particular variety of ladder misuse, involving swimming pool and rocking horse, could not possibly be anticipated... although the consequence can.

The Things Men Do with Ladders; Number 17
If the example of this genre that I posted on 11 January is impressive and quite ingenious, this one is quite mad. Ok, it seems to be working, except that he's almost standing on tiptoe because he's still not high enough up to reach whatever the hell it is that he's trying to do. And what happened the minute after the photographer left?

The Things Men do With Ladders number 16
This impressive example of the genre was sent to me by my friend Corky in California, though the man on the ladder is painting the church clock in Mussina, South Africa. I hope he completed the job...
You might just think that this is simply a man on a long ladder doing a job that requires two hands?
Further down, he and his ladder are balanced on a cantilever arm created out of planks of wood with a human counterweight sitting on them, while holding the ladder with a rope....
There's more...
Quite an impressively ingenious contraption these two have devised. This is clever enough to warrant the label 'construction.'
Of course the chances of this going wrong are as high as painting the clock face. And how did he actually get up there.

The Things Men Do With Ladders, no 14. Picture of the week 9 October 2015
Haven't posted one of these for ages, but I've recently spotted another batch cropping up on't internet.
Ok, so which day do the bin men come? Don't imagine he knows that, or anything else.

The Things Men do with Ladders no. 13; Picture of the Week 18 May 2014
This is the thirteenth of these which I've borrowed from elsewhere. Thirteen, unlucky for some, probably this bloke as his ladder appears to be tied to the top of his flimsy garden gate with - no not rope - just a bit of old rag.

The Things Men do With Ladders, Picture of the Week, 8 September 2012
Health and safety plan presumably lost down the hole that the pole has been shoved down ...
Not my photo, obviously. I only set foot on SANE sites!

The Things Men do with Ladders - again! Picture of the Week 2 August 2012
What can I say? This is just the Darwin effect in action. Not my photo obviously, I wouldn't go within a hundred miles of him and my telephoto lens isn't that long... you can find this one easily, just google 'man on ladder in swimming pool' to find a discussion about why this IS NOT dangerous!!

Hope he remembered to return the timber to the site...
Well, once again not my photo. I have an excuse of sorts. No interesting work to photograph this week, the company have recently been concentrating on several client's drainage problems, and drains do not often make great subject matter for interesting pictures.
Bad weather for shooting much else - April was so wet that the grass in the garden is approaching knee height and is far too wet to cut. If it gets much taller, maybe we can rent the garden out for tiger hunting...
And under a newly invented sub-heading, "Things men do Without Ladders," we have the following...

The Things Men do with Ladders
That's a step-ladder, that is... and a table and two benchs and... and he still can't reach!
Health and safety plan, anybody?
Not my photograph, just a cautionary tale.
