Hastings ruined pier, latest; Picture of the Week 26 Dec 2012




The ruin of Hastings Pier
The pier, which was devastated by an arson attack in 2010, has won Heritage Lottery funding for its restoration, granted in November. Work is expected to begin in the New year and be finished in 2014.

    I love old piers along the coast like this. Shame about the fire but thankfully it will be restored.

    Me too, they're wonderfully photogenic even when ruined. I have family near Hastings so am particularly interested in the plight of Hastings pier. I had an article published last year about the problems of fire on UK piers, a briefer version of it is on this blog, somewhere...
