Stony Stratford Historic Roofing, Pictures of the week 13 July 2012

Having missed posting anything at all last week (due to technical problems, honest!) I'm once again posting several. These show some of the reasons why Archifact stays in business.
Historic Roofscape

Driving through an old English coaching town, you can enjoy the quaint shopfronts, ancient pubs and historic town houses, but what goes on above your eyeline?

Roofs at any and every angle meet each other almost randomly. How many materials are there to contend with when repairs are needed? Traditional tiles, leadwork and slates contrast with concrete and asbestos. Vent pipes, TV arials and lightening conductors are more permanent metal structures than the scaffold needed to get so high. Roof slopes, walls and brick chimneys all meet here, creating a fascinating rooscape with many potential problems and hazards.

Scaffolders in action

With a roof like this, on a 300 year old Grade II* listed building, you need a roofing company and scaffolders who know exactly what they are doing. They will need the supervision of an architectural expert who will know how to do an effective and sympathetic job and avoid bringing down the wrath of the conservation officer on your head.

View up Watling Street, a Roman road running from London to Anglesey.
